Dear Friends, Supporters, and Community Members,
It is with immense pride and heartfelt gratitude that I write to you as the founding Chief Executive Officer of the Hong Kong Canadian Community Service Association (HKCCSA). We are just beginning our journey, and our organisation has only just opened its doors. Still, our commitment to supporting Hong Kong Canadians and newcomers across Canada is already strong and unwavering.
The need for culturally responsive, accessible support services has never been more pressing. Many individuals and families are arriving in Canada with hope, but also with uncertainty. At HKCCSA, we are here to walk with them and to offer guidance, connection, and a sense of belonging from day one.
In these first few months, we’ve focused on building our foundation: establishing essential services, forming partnerships, and listening closely to the voices of the communities we serve. Even at this early stage, we are already seeing the powerful impact of being present, culturally attuned, and rooted in empathy.
Launching a new nonprofit is no small feat, and it is only possible because of the dedicated team, volunteers, and early supporters who believed in this vision before it even came into existence. Your encouragement and collaboration are helping us bring this mission to life.
As we look forward, we do so with ambition and humility. We know there is so much more to build, and many more lives to reach, but we are here, and we are ready.
Thank you for being part of this beginning. Together, we are creating a welcoming space where everyone can grow, contribute, and thrive.
Yani Lam
